Five SAT Vocab words of the week

  1. alacrity (n.) eagerness, speed  
    For some reason, Chuck loved to help his mother whenever he could, so when his mother asked him to set the table he did so with alacrity
  2. bombastic (adj.) excessively confident, pompous                                                                                  The singer’s bombastic performance disgusted the crowd.       
  3. capricious (adj.) subject to whim, fickle                                                                                                 The young girl’s capricious tendencies made it difficult for her to focus on achieving her goal.
  4. discordant (adj.) not agreeing, not in harmony with                                                                             The girls’ sobs were a discordantsound amid the general laughter that filled the restaurant.
  5. egregious(adj.)extremely bad                                                                                                                 The student who threw sloppy joes across the cafeteriawas punished for his egregious behavior.
