NFL Week 3 Preview

Team
ESPN Spread
Comments:
Chargers vs. Chiefs
Chargers by 15
Should be an easy home win for San Diego. Chiefs have been plagued by injuries and have been outscored 10-89 in two games.
Rams vs. Ravens
Ravens by 4
Rams will need to improve their run defense if they hope to beat Ray Rice & the Ravens.
Bills vs. Patriots
Patriots by 9
The Bills’ first big test—is this up and coming 2-0 team for real?
Bengals vs. 49ers
Bengals by 3
Both teams are in rebuilding mode, but the Bengals leads in most offensive and defensive stats so far.
Browns vs. Dolphins
Browns by 3
Chad Henne, after a good debut, came up flat last week. The Dolphins will have to tighten up the defense if they want a chance to win.
Titans vs. Broncos
Titans by 7
The Broncos will have to get better on 3rd downs and make changes on defense. Look for Chris Johnson to rebound from a subpar two first games.
Vikings vs. Lions
Lions by 3
Stafford finally looks good—and healthy, to boot. Very important NFC North matchup.
Saints vs. Texans
Saints by 4
The Texans have looked great, but Wade Phillips’ new 3-4 defense will have a huge test against one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks: Drew Brees.
Eagles vs. Giants
Even
If the so-called “Dream Team” wants to live up to the hype, they will absolutely have to win this NFC East game against an injured Giants team.
Panthers vs. Jaguars
Panthers by  4
Cam Newton could be headed to his first win as an NFL QB.
Raiders vs. Jets
Jets by 4
Even Mark Sanchez will do well against a weak Raider’s secondary. Raiders will have to get pressure on the QB with their punishing defensive line.
Bears vs. Packers
Packers by 4
Classic NFC North rivalry; however, I think it’s hard to bet against the Packers right now. Aaron Rodgers looks sharp as always.
Seahawks vs. Cardinals
Cardinals by 4
Both teams aren’t doing so well, but I expect Kolb and Fitzgerald to have a good day at Seattle.
Buccaneers vs. Falcons
Bucs by 1
Should be a great game. The Falcons should run the ball a lot against a weak Tampa Bay run defense.
Colts vs. Steelers
Steelers by 11
Should be an easy game for Pittsburgh… Indianapolis looks weak and unprepared.
Cowboys vs. Redskins
Even
Losing Miles Austin is a big blow to the Cowboys’ passing game. Ryan Kerrigan has had a stellar season thus far for Washington, and should get good pressure on Romo.

Poem of the Week

Just started my senior year at Venice high school; this is a poem I had to analyze in my AP Literature class on the second day of school. Anyways, here we go:

Apparently with no surprise
To any happy Flower
The Frost beheads it at its play --
In accidental power --
The blonde Assassin passes on --
The Sun proceeds unmoved
To measure off another Day
For an Approving God.

- Emily Dickinson, "Apparently with no surprise"
