Teens will learn elements of poetry, everything from cinquains to spoken word/slams, explore their own voices through various exercises, and have a chance to read their writings. Towards the end of the program I will perform one of my many poems and be available for any questions about the poetry/slam scene in Los Angeles.

NBA Finals: Game Six

The Dallas Mavericks, led by sharpshooting forward Dirk Nowitzki, lead the Miami Heat 3-2 in the 2011 NBA Finals. In an ever-so-important game six this Sunday night, the Mavericks will try to clinch the finals in South Beach; Jason Terry noted that they would "like to get this first" game, rather than having the series drag out to game seven. The Maverick's ability to close out games in the fourth quarter have got them two back to back wins in the playoffs; the first time the Miami Heat have lost two games in a row during their 2011 playoff campaign. As the fourth quarter has been a bright spot for Dallas, it has been the Miami Heat's bane. Dwayne Wade, shooting guard for the Miami Heat, has been able to put up solid numbers, but suffered from a minor hip injury during game 5 that severely limited his playing time. Lebron James was unable to galvanize his team nor himself in the fourth quarter, including a rock bottom 0 points in the fourth quarter in game four; this summed up to a total of 8 points for the entire game. Obviously, James was unhappy with his game four performance- and, relatively, had a much better game five with a triple-double- but still came up flat during the fourth quarter. The Heat lost game five 112-103. If the Miami Heat want any chance to clinch these finals, the first task on their agenda must be to score down the stretch; Lebron James must be aggressive in the fourth quarter and utilize his size and athleticism to score points in the paint. On defense, the Heat absolutely must double-team Dirk Nowitzki, and keep Jason Terry from getting wide open looks in pick and roll situations. Dallas, on the other hand, must simply keep doing what they've been doing. The experienced Mavericks team plays four-quarter basketball. This wily veteran team knows how to close basketball games; a feat that the Miami Heat have yet to prove they have the capability for.

Game 6 will air Sunday, June 12th at 5:00 PM pacific standard time.
